The movie tells the history of a "Matador" (hiring killer) from the "Sertão" (backwoods) of the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil. He is assigned to kill a "Coronel" (landowner) who has killed the former mayor of Degredo, name of the town where they live. But he unexpectedly falls in love with the colonel's stepdaughter and his mission becomes compromised. A beautiful history of the Brazilian "Cangaço".
