BOOK: "DE GODARD A ZÉ DO CAIXÃO" by IVAN CARDOSO — A beautiful Limited Deluxe Edition, printed on Couché paper! This masterpiece is a treasure of Black & White photos shot by the Brazil Cult Ivan Cardoso from 60’s to 90’s.
Ivan Cardoso is a well known Brazilian Underground movie director from Super 8 (“Com Jeito a Coisa Vai”, “O Conde Gostou da Coisa”, “Branco, Tu és Meu”, “Piratas do Sexo Voltam a Matar”, “Nosferatu no Brasil”, Onde Freud não Explica”, “Amor & Tara”, “Sentença de Deus”, “A Múmia Volta a Atacar”, “Alô, Alô, Cinédia”, “Chuva de Brotos”, “História dos Mares do Sul”), passing through 16mm (“Museu Goeldi”, “Ruínas de Murucutu”) and getting to 35mm (“Moreira da Silva”, “O Segredo da Múmia”, “As Sete Vampiras”, “O Escorpião Escarlate”).
He worked also as still photographer, actor and director assistant for many Brazilian directors like Rogério Sgarzela (“Sem essa Aranha”, “O Abismo”), Nevillle D’Almeida (“Lunch Time”, “Os Sete Gatinhos”), Júlio Bressane (“O Rei do Baralho”, “O Monstro Caraíba”, “A Agonia”, “O Gigante da América”), among others.
But what few people know is that Ivan always goes around with its photographic camera, registering his work and the one of many artists of the cinema and the arts in Brazil in the last 30 years.
Ivan has produced also many photos for music albums covers. In 1977, he was hired by the subsidiary of WEA in Brazil to be the official photographer of the company. Some of the photos he did for records are: Gal Costa ("FATAL"), Jorge Mautner (Pirata Label – "Para Iluminar a Cidade"), Caetano Veloso ("Araçá Azul"), As Frenéticas, A Cor do Som, Gilberto Gil ("Um Banda Um"), Banda Black Rio ("Gafieira Universal"), Jards Macalé ("Contrastes"), Zé Ramalho ("Peleja de Zé do Caixão contra o Dono do Céu”), Luiz Gonzaga, among others.
