More description

O homem do Sputnik is a Brazilian film from 1959 about the tricks of a simple man who thinks which the Russian satellite Sputnik has fallen on his home's roof. Followed by spies the truth about tricks are revealed. Besides Oscarito's tricks, the film was known for the best parody of Brigitte Bardot, made by Norma Bengell.

A Soviet satellite falls onto the henhouse of Anastacio and Deocleciana Fortuna, a humble couple, killing a few hens and doing a lot of damage. Without realising what is really at stake they think they can make a fortune out of it and go to a luxurious Rio hotel. But as he tries to sell the satellite, Anastacio is uncovered by a journalist's mistress. News of the event spreads around, drawing the attention of the great powers which send emissaries to Rio. Peaceful Anastacio is turned into an "important man". The Americans and the Russians send their agents. The French will not be outdone and use their ultimate weapon - Brigitte Bardot…

The Sputmik is missing and a hillbilly thinks that it had just fell in his backyard. He becomes famous and he and his wife are introduced to the 'High Society' while the CIA, the KGB and the French wants to lay their hands in the Sputnik, by all means necessary. That's the plot. What happens in the movie in fact is a series of jokes about the Brazilian High Society and how the world perceives the Brazil. It's plenty of stereotypes, true, but this is also part of the fun (Jô Soares as a CIA agent who can't stop chewing chewing gum and Norma Bengel as B.B., sexy French agent, are memorable). Lots of funny moments all along the way including its purposely 'open end'.

A Classic movie from Brazil with Oscarito,
the Brazilian Chaplin!!!
